PARDYALONE and I chat on a ZOOM call and talk challenges of mental health, emo-rap, & NEW MUSIC

PARDYALONE and I catch up on a ZOOM call to talk about overcoming struggles of mental health, views on the emo-rap genre, and NEW MUSIC.

SEASON 4 (2023) ZOOM CALL FROM MY ROOM 🏚📞
EP #02
.

Born and raised in Minnesota, now in LA, PARDYALONE and I linked via a zoom call to chat about his upcoming new song ‘Test 11′. We talked about being a voice for those overcoming mental health struggles, his views on the emo-rap genre, and NEW MUSIC.

Since his wistful single ‘Not A Home’ was released, he has been blowing up into a frenzy. The reflective, sincere record became the soundtrack to over 300,000 TikTok videos in 2022 and soared to over 15 million streams and views.

Pardyalone’s sound mixes raw, expressive, emotional lyrics blended with soft electronics and a soothing voice. He paints a picture and tells a story about pain, heartbreak, and battles with mental health, going down a similar track as other well-known alternative rappers such as Xxxtentaction, Juice WrLD and Lil Uvi Vert. He says his biggest influences are Bon Iver, Morgan Wallen, Lauryn Hill and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

I asked him what challenges and obstacles you think you have had to overcome by making music and singing about his pain and trauma?

[Pardy]

“I think the biggest thing is definitely acknowledging that it’s alright to be vulnerable and transparent with who I am as a person to my fans and to the people who follow me. That, to me, is definitely the biggest obstacle I still work on, and it’s still an ongoing thing.”

[Suzie]

“What advice do you give young kids battling mental illness and depression?”

[Pardy]

“I think for me, it was understanding that you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and that’s what allowed me to learn the most about myself as a human being. At the end of the day, like, we’re only human, and it’s ok to feel. It’s just ok.”
