Born & raised in the Southwest of SYDNEY and being from a Nigerian background, B Wise has been immersed in the music scene since the early 2000s. Taking music seriously in 2015 and releasing his first single in 2016, B Wise’s career has taken off tremendously since.
I asked B Wise what his take on the upcoming Australian scene incorporating more colour into it and what it’s like watching the scene grow.
[B Wise]
“I think it’s dope. I’m here for it. Seeing more people of colour in the Australian music industry from a rap standpoint…Let’s keep it 100. Rap music is black culture. It’s black artists. That’s where it came from and then for someone like myself, being a part of that culture [Australian rap scene] definitely was tough. The fact you even said yourself it was unheard of seeing someone of colour….Seeing people of colour come through and be recognized is dope.”
I finally thanked B Wise for showing me a Nigerian experience right in my own backyard, and we headed to Sony Studios to hear a sneak peek of his latest track.
B WISE music is available on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube and more!
